Ralph The Car Guy

Experience from inside the business. A voice for the consumer.

Current focus
Independent automotive consumer advocate, podcast host and creator of Review Your Purchase.

Ralph built his automotive career from the ground up. Public profiles trace his path from restaurant hospitality into a dealership wash bay, then into vehicle sales, management, general management and executive leadership. That path gave him firsthand experience with the departments and decisions that shape a customer's ownership and buying experience.

Today, Ralph's work is centered on Ralph the Car Guy—an independent media and consumer-information platform built to explain the car business in plain language, provide unbiased perspective on vehicle transactions, and give real buyers a place to tell their purchase stories on video.

More than two decades across automotive retail.

Ralph's experience spans sales, finance, service, used vehicles, dealership management and multi-store operations. Earlier in his career he held management and general-management roles with organizations including Rick Case and Metro Kia. He later served in multiple leadership roles with Jim Ellis Automotive Group, including General Manager of Jim Ellis Buick GMC Atlanta and Jim Ellis Chevrolet, Executive General Manager of GM-brand operations in Chamblee, and Vice President with multi-store responsibility. These are former roles and are presented here as part of his career history.

Recognition

Performance, customer experience and leadership.

During Ralph's tenure as General Manager of Jim Ellis Chevrolet, the dealership announced Chevrolet Elite Dealer recognition, CARFAX Top-Rated Dealer recognition and a Chevy Service Customer Focus Award. His public professional history also includes manufacturer leadership certifications, Hyundai Motor Finance Presidents Club recognition, general-manager training and leadership development.

Media

Ralph the Car Guy started as a consumer voice.

Long before the current platform, Ralph appeared on Atlanta radio as “Ralph the Car Guy,” helping explain shortages, pricing, dealership practices and other automotive issues. The original Ralph the Car Guy podcast launched as a place to answer questions about down payments, negative equity, GAP coverage, warranties, fees and other parts of a vehicle transaction that consumers often find confusing.

In 2026, Audacy published an extensive profile of Ralph's career and consumer philosophy. He also appeared with Russell “Big Block” Spencer on Butternomics: The Business of Culture for a long-form discussion about automotive retail, Atlanta culture, customer experience and community impact.

Community

Turning automotive resources into community support.

Ralph developed Teachers Keep Us Moving with Russell “Block” Spencer and V-103's Greg Street, using mobile vehicle service as a practical way to recognize educators. He has also been publicly associated with automotive-career education initiatives supporting students entering technician and dealership careers.
